I can hardly believe how huge everything has grown in just one month since planting. I just gave the vegetables a fresh dose of bone meal and a high-nitrogen tea I made from Alfalfa pellets. Within two days I could sware they grew inches.
I have been harvesting the largest leaves of Kale and within the next week, I will start picking this Chinese cabbage.
The heads are getting to be a nice size and will be perfect for making Kimchee soon.
The Roma tomato plants are starting to get tall now. Next week I will have to start attaching the stems to the cattle panels and trim some of the sucker branches as they grow.
Here are the Russet Potato plants that are growing in the Gro-bags and the earliest one on the right is in a regular pot. That tall one was started in the greenhouse back in late March. Also, the tower gardens are on their second plantings with radish, pak choi, and lettuce varieties. I am going to start thinning out the pak choi and I may even finish growing the in the regular garden space.
Next to the porch area I have my hanging baskets with the cabbage and cauliflower plants. This is a test to see how they do compare to being planted in the ground. So far, they are doing okay, but I may decide to plant them somewhere if I can find the room, lol.
The red cabbage is starting to form a head now and I am excited about that.
The snowball cauliflower has also started growing a cluster and I got so happy that I had my husband come outside to have a look. This is my first time growing both of these veggies and I think they will do fairly well this summer.
Today, all I have to do is cut the lawn and chill out on the porch with my little Mika. And that is all for this garden update for the week. Wishing you all a wonderful weekend ahead.
