How could anyone resist such a beautiful, baby puppy? Our niece flew in from South Dakota to bring us this amazing little Maltese-Shitzu girl. She knew how much we were missing our late CoCo who passed earlier this year, so she brought us this wonderful bundle of joy.
We have named her "Mika" which means - a gift from God. She arrived at just 8 weeks old and is settling into her surroundings wonderfully. Here she is exploring the backyard while watching my husband carefully.
As you can see my husband broke down when my niece handed him his new baby girl. He was overwhelmed, to say the least, and has not stopped smiling all week. Can we say that he has totally fallen in love with her from the first moment?
Thankfully I had not thrown out the pillows that CoCo used to lay on underneath our porch chairs. They are already her favorite places to take a puppy snooze after playing very hard with her daddy and me.
She has discovered the four frogs that live in our little pond and chases around and around the stones trying to catch one. She has only slipped once to get her feet wet but that doesn't seem to deter her any. I am anticipating her getting too excited and taking a quick swim which will have to be followed up with a bath for sure.
Mika is enjoying one of our cat toys and is destroying the feathers on it. I had to make a trip to the local pet store to purchase toys and training treats for her.
I was surprised at how little the shop had for small puppy treats that would be soft enough to not hurt her baby teeth. I even talked to the people at the pet store and they said I had found the few that they carried. So far she likes all of the yogurt chews and her little squeaker toys. I am introducing a lot of different varieties to her now so that she is well-rounded with flavors.
She seems to love laying next to this large stuffed animal. Maybe she feels like it is one of her siblings or something as it brings her comfort. Well, Mika is now up from her morning nap and my quiet time is over for the moment. Thank you for stopping in to meet the new member of our family. I am off for now and hopefully will be able to get back to posting on a regular basis, ;-)
Until next time, this is Sunscape
