My Sketch: Citadel, Jerusalem, Israel; aka Tower of David.
In historical fact, this ancient stone-rock fortress, nor the tower, had nothing to do with King David of the Bible. Part of the fortress was built/ rebuilt by Herod, yes, that is the same Herod who slaughtered babies in trying to get rid of Jesus at his birth. This is the well known Christmas story that is in the Bible (Gospel of Matthew, chapter 2). The Citadel was rebuilt by Mamluk sultan in 1310, and the present Old City Wall was built in 1540s by the Ottoman sultan Suleiman the Magnificent. The whole Citadel compound is now a museum. With the passing of time, all glory falls to ashes.
"All flesh is like grass and all its glory like the flower of grass.
The grass withers, and the flower falls
but the word of the Lord remains forever.
(Quote from the Bible, the Book of First Peter, chapter 1 verses 24-25)
“凡有血气的,尽都如草;
草必枯干,花必凋谢;
