I started with charcoal, building the face through shadows, rough lines, and contrasts. Then I added yellow and blue. I’m always drawn to the relationship between these two colors: yellow brings a strong, almost restless energy, while blue creates depth and a sense of silence. In this portrait, they meet across the face, sometimes colliding, sometimes balancing each other. I like the tension between their warmth and coolness, and how they can express feelings that go beyond the colors themselves.
For me, the unfinished lines are as important as the painted areas. They preserve the energy of the first #drawing and leave room for imagination.
