I’m getting out of here!! Those words still echoed in my head as I tried to walk as quickly as I could through the grasses. Strangely enough, the only thing I hear behind me was the rustle of grasses. I slowed down and finally stopped. I stood there for a couple of moments with my hands on my knees, trying to catch my breath before I tried to continue.
A long time passed before I was finally able to recover. I bit my lower lip and took a deep breath before I looked around. From my position on the hill, I could look down at this new planet that we, the humans, have decided to call it Earth.
How did I get here? Was this really Earth? If so, where did I come from? How did I get out of the ship? As I looked around and tried to remember, I could only remember bits and pieces of what had happened.
The ship! I remembered the noise and the alarms the ship was making. The ship started shaking, and I was being thrown around! Suddenly, I woke up to the sounds of alarms and the ship was being flung around by something. My thoughts were trying to fight against the chaos, but it was in vain. My mind was trying to concentrate on something, somehow. I could feel it, but I still could not understand how or what I was trying to do.
As I thought about this, my thoughts were cut off from this world. I could no longer feel the ground beneath my feet. All I could feel was that of my heart beating rapidly in my chest and the soft breeze of air. I realized that I was in the bottom of the ship. My body was still dressed in its protective armor, but I was relieved because I had been locked up in that before the ship was being destroyed. The thoughts of the others once part of our beautiful life filled my mind. I felt relief with the knowledge that they were still alive, but sadness of the fact that they would never be able to return.
Suddenly, I heard someone calling my name. It was hard to hear at first, but soon, I was able to hear more clearly. It was Tara’s voice. She was calling out my name, 'Kitajiro? Kitajiro! Where are you?'
I tried to answer, but no sound came out. However, I was still able to hear her voice. It was getting closer.
'Kitajiro! Answer me!' I heard her voice getting closer.
I thought hard, trying to make a sound once more. I could feel it. The sound of my voice. The blood started rushing to my throat as I tried to reach it. It was as if my throat was swelling. I could taste it, as well. It felt like my tongue was as large as a grape and I could taste the metallic on my tongue as my body was trying to make the sound, but it was too large.
I was coughing and my eyes were watering. I put my hands on my throat and tried to move my tongue. I tried to swallow. It was impossible. I spat the metallic taste out of my mouth. I had not swallowed it. It was in my throat.
With a deep breath of air and with my hands on my throat, I tried to do what I had last heard Tara doing. I tried to swallow again, but no results were noticed. I clenched my teeth together. 'I must be in shock.' was the only thought that was going through my mind.
I heard what sounded like a crackling noise. I could feel the air moving my body and then I could feel the strain on my voice. Finally, I could hear the voice of Tara. Her voice was fading. 'Kitajiro? Where are you? Please answer me! If you can hear me, please answer me!'
I felt the pressure getting greater and the sound of my voice started to crackle.
'Kitajiro! Answer me!' She yelled again. There was a wave of pain as she yelled. I felt the pain spreading to my head. It reached the back of my head, and I caught myself screaming from it.
I heard her again, 'Kitajiro! Answer me! If you can hear me, please answer me! If you can hear me, please answer me!'
There was a sharp pain as I heard her voice. Then everything was gone. It was like my eyes closed, and I was gone.
I was crying. I put my head down and continued to cry.
'Kitajiro! Please answer me! Please answer me. If you can hear me, please answer me.'
I could hear the sound of her crying. It brought me back to the present. I looked around at the base. It was a still and quiet place with no one guarding it. I looked at the time on my implant and saw that it was almost midnight. 'It has been 30 days after I had arrived here.' I said to myself. There were two large buildings on the other side of the base. One of them was a large jail, the second was a small jail, which I was once in.
I looked around the other side of the base. There was nothing. It was just grasses and barren fields. There was one road that led north, towards more mountains and hills, which seemed to get higher and higher as they got farther away.
