As a child I remember taking swimming lessons, but honestly they did not help me much, my height being so considerable allowed me to stand up in the pool, therefore, I touched the ground when standing and I had some advantage over my classmates who could not even squat down to stand up in the pool. I did learn swimming techniques, I learned to float, to hold my breath underwater and to control it in hurried situations, but not what I wanted, to learn to swim.

On a vacation we went as a whole family including cousins and uncles, one of my uncles had the idea to rent a banana and a bed for us to have fun in the water, at first it was fun, but all that fun would end at least in me, the experience very brutal, but there was a risk of falling into the water at any turn, as we depend on the waves and the speed of the boat. After riding four times in the banana with complete calm and trying not to fall, the fifth time I got on, the man in the boat wanted to make us capsize, but an aunt told him no, since we spent almost 10 minutes for her to get on the shore, just imagine in the middle of the sea.

In spite of the insistence to capsize and the aunt that he did not do it, the gentleman provoked the fall, in spite of wearing life jackets I felt that I was sinking, at the moment I did not understand and quickly began to try to float between the nerves and the situation, I swallowed water because I did not expect the fall, it did not give me chance to take air, but thank God, my aunt held my arm to keep us both, I immediately got into the boat and we were almost 20 minutes trying to get my aunt to the banana, because it was impossible to get into the boat. Again I reminded the man in the boat that this was the consequence of falling, but he never understood it, or because he was being funny what happened happened.

The man asked me, can you swim? In the middle of the situation, my teary-eyed response was; no, they told you not to throw us in and you did whatever you wanted. They helped me into the boat and later, I was watching how they tried to pull my aunt in and in almost all of them, the banana would turn around and everyone would go back into the water. It is worth mentioning that, at that time, minors were not allowed to get on the banana without at least one adult companion.
