I have discovered Steemit and I LOVE IT!
Who am I?
I am a South African, with a New Zealand Passport, living in Australia, married to an incredible woman and we have three beautiful daughters. We live on our own small piece of paradise in Australia and love working on all sorts of projects around our property. I may write a few posts about some of our up and coming projects.
Why Steemit? Why now?
To be completely honest I only recently stumbled upon Steemit, but I think it is an amazing platform and the fact that it rewards the creators in this world is so great to see. I guess my journey to discovering Steemit started all the way back in December of 2013. I was a member of a Silver Stacking Forum and I had a listing to sell a Perth Mint Palladium Emu Coin. A member of the forum contacted me and asked if I would be willing to trade the Emu Coin for a certain amount of Litecoin. I had already heard of Bitcoin and Litecoin as they were very popular at the time. I decided to take a bit of a risk and go ahead with the trade. A few weeks after executing the trade the cryptocurrency market came crashing down.
I had two choices, either I could realise a large percentage loss and sell my Litecoin or I could be patient and HODL. That is exactly what I did. The years went by and I completely forgot about my Litecoin, until a few months ago when Litecoin hit its all-time highs. As you can imagine I was very excited at this point and my interest in cryptocurrency was re-ignited and has never been stronger than it is now.
After doing research on the leading cryptocurrencies and watching numerous YouTube videos I found out about STEEM and the Steemit platform. A few days ago I took the plunge and joined the community. It has been a very interesting journey so far and a very steep learning curve. I have realised that creating quality content that people find interesting enough to upvote or comment on is not that easy and takes a lot of time and effort. I still have not yet had my first successful post, however I must say I got very excited when one of my posts got up over $3.
What will I be posting?
At this stage I am going to focus on my two hobbies/passions, crypto coins and physical coins. Down the track as I find my groove on the platform I will look to post about some upcoming home projects we have in the pipeline. As I am someone who loves to write and loves to share a story, I am sure there will be many more topics that I will cover in the weeks, months and years ahead. Stay tuned.
Final words
I would like to say thank you to everyone who has been so helpful in getting me started and setup on Steemit. This is such a wonderful and helpful community and it is a community that truly values QUALITY and ORIGINAL content which is such a breath of fresh air in this ‘copy/paste’ age of Twitter and Facebook. I would like to give a special shout out to the #MinnowSupportProject, #TeamAustralia and #SteemSilverGold communities; you guys have all been amazing and have provided me with such a great foundation to begin my Steemit adventure. THANK YOU!
