Hello Folks! Hope you all are doing fine.
Anyways the title says it all. It may not be a big moment for everyone, but for me, it was - still is - a pure joy. After so many days, I was all enthusiastic and happy. I cannot explain the moment, I finally touched the yellow line.
Now before I keep on with my experience. I would love to tell you all about the worst way of driving test in my country i.e. Pakistan.
The L-shape.
I mean what in the seven world is this system? In order to get a driving license, all I need to do is pass an e-sign test, I got perfect score on it though, and drive the rusty Mehran in L-shape cones.
And when I say rusty, I mean properly thakaar (worn-out). The car looked like it had survived three generations of Pakistani roads and was now simply waiting for retirement. The gear felt less like a gear and more like a stick inserted into the floor, the brakes worked with the confidence of "InshAllah, ruk jaegi (God willing, it will stop somehow)," the accelerator had apparently forgotten what acceleration was, and the clutch was so loose, it felt like it had emotionally detached itself from the car. Yet somehow, this was the vehicle in which I had to prove that I was qualified to drive. The entire test was basically: start the car, enter the L, do not touch the cones, do not stall, and somehow get out alive. And apparently, if you can successfully navigate an L-shape in a thakaar Mehran, then congratulations; because you are now officially ready to face the beautiful chaos of Pakistani roads.
No more defaming my beloved country. Because, in the end, I am a patriot as well, just not a blind follower.
The Dead-Fish Scenario.
I was not planning to go for the test. But the thing is: I got a ticket for not having a license and driving. Lol! Yes, my own fault. But, right at that moment, I payed my fine, and went straight to the Rawalpindi's office. Passed e-signs, waited for three-hours for my turn, and passed it. Once again life has proven to make things happen like a dead fish.
The Roller-Coaster Ride.
Man, those three-hours really felt like eternity. People were failing for the most part, and this thing really worried me a lot. My emotions were shifting from one to another. I was just giving myself these lines: if not today, maybe next time. But, deep inside I wanted to pass it at all cost. Why? Because that ticket really humbled me well.
After waiting for three-long hours, my turn came. Everyone was looking at me, observing me, and being an introvert, it was causing me great trouble. Lol! I started really good, came back really well. It was way easier than I thought. I have been driving for more than a month now, and those who are aware of this region - and the traffic here will know the real hustle behind everything.
Ah man, just one final thing then I take a leave. I will always remember this day till death tears me apart. Poetic, isn't it?
Sometimes, nothing is worth than a day.
