The bees can land without problems in practically any angle. How do they do that?

Think of the following: To land safely, the bee must reduce its approach speed until it almost completely stops before settling. A logical way to do it would be by calculating two factors: First the flight speed and the distance to the target, and then reduce the speed depending on both factors.
However, this would be very complicated for most insects since they have very close eyes and with a fixed focus, which prevents them from directly measuring distances.

The vision of bees is very different from the binocular vision of us humans, we can calculate how far we are from an object. So, how do you calculate the distance? Apparently, they use the simple fact that the eyes look larger as they get closer to them, and that the closer they are, the faster they seem to increase in size.

Studies have determined that bees reduce their flight speed so that the speed at which their obejtivo "increases" in size is constant. By the time a bee reaches its destination, it has reduced its speed almost completely, and so it can land without problems

The simplicity and applicability of this landing technique [...] make it ideal to implement in the navigation systems of flying robots
