What a co-incidence, as this community was started on the day that we were saving bees.
My wife is the one that saves the bees, and I only did this one to show her how brave I am Lol.
Please note some precautionary information at the end of this post, in case you also try this.
Greetings to all and being kind to everyone and everything is our speciality @papilloncharity
I am glad that this community was started by @gungunkrishu and let's hope that it will lead many others to also make the worthy attempt of practicing kindness to all. We know that life is full and busy, we all get frustrated and tired, and sometimes there is not much time left in each day to go the extra mile to help another person, cause, or creature, but it is worth every minute.
It is very important to be both giving and thankful, appreciating too what others do for us and for society. No act of kindness is insignificant or unimportant if it is done with a good heart. The bonus is that it also makes one to feel better about the self, which is always a good thing. A smile costs nothing.
Now let me tell you about the bees below.
In the meantime, I put my bee on a flower that I liked, and the bee also seemed to like it as it was in the sun.
And here below is the real bee saver.
The bees were dying on a walkway on the dark side of a building, and people were tramping on them. Obviously, the cold got to the bees as it is winter here and the few that lived were very lethargic and in the process of dying. So, when a finger is held close in front of a bee, after a lot of gentle nudging, then the bee slowly climbs up on the finger. Then, it is a process to take them around the building into the sunlight and slowly, slowly they recover. Then the final step is simply to put the bees on a bush where many other bees are busy drinking nectar and collecting pollen. A total of 20 were saved like this on the day.
A step-by-step guide below on how to save the bees.
Hold a bee in the sunlight for a while and then proceed to slowly allow the bee to climb on to a flower.
And finally, the bee starts to drink and to collect pollen. This is what bees do.
Just an important note here. One, if you are allergic to bees don't try this. Two, if you have very aggressive bee species this might have to be done in a different way. Three, act slowly at all times as fast or jerky moves will surely result in a sting. Another thing to look out for, is if it is a swarm of bees then one has to be very careful as they might be protecting the queen bee and then they will attack when you come close to them. In this case here, they were scattered on the walkway and were not together in a swarm.
Please ensure that you have some idea as to why the bees are lethargic like this. In our case, we think that pesticides might be playing a role in the bees becoming lethargic as pesticides can disrupt their systems. Depending on the doses being sprayed, pesticides can affect their memory, reproduction, ability to find food, flight, and their orientation.
But in other cases, please be careful and check first in case the bees are aggressive before touching them.
I hope you enjoyed the pictures and the story.
