Hello again everybody. Today I will be sharing a battle using Mycelic Infantry.
This is a card I use occasionally but not all that often. I tend to use it in conjunction with Mylor Crowling when the rulesets are Melee only. Otherwise I tend to go for magic lineups with Unicorn Mustang as my Melee monster.
However the ruleset today lent itself kindly to doing a bit of a hybrid team as you can see below:
The ruleset 'Back to basics' and 'Reverse speed' meant that if I use Unicorn Mustang, it wouldn't have the Void ability to resist some magic damage and it has 4 speed so would attack quite late in the battle. Therefore I decided I would instead go with a magic lineup but with Mycelic Infantry as my main Melee attacker. As you can see from the lineups, my opponent had a very similar idea, although I am also lucky enough to have a Gold Foil edition so had 1 extra damage compared to my opponent.
Upon seeing this lineup I was 99% sure I would win this match as the opponent had put a melee monster in 2nd position which couldn't attack and they used Goblin Tower at the back which had lost it's Blast ability.
Round 1:
By the end of Round 1, we had both lost our Mycelic Infantry units and we had also both taken significant damage to our 2nd units. I was still confident of the win however as I felt my monsters would still deal more damage than the opponents.
Round 2:
By the end of Round 2 I had taken most of the opponents monsters out and had seriously damaged their Queen Mycelia. I knew my Mycelic Slipspawn was in trouble in the next round but now I was 100% sure I had the win as I had more monsters left and was able to deal much more damage than the opponent.
Round 3:
I had decimated the opponents team at this point and they were only left with their Goblin Tower but as that is a ranged monster, it cannot attack in the first position so all that was left of this battle was for me to deal the 1 damage needed to kill it off and claim the victory.
