Whenever Eminem wants to be in a rap battle, what he does first is to diss himself completely and then diss the opponent. This is a very effective strategy as it completely rips the opponent of lines to use against him. Why am I talking about Eminem in this post you wonder. Well, it is because this is a shade at me.
So before now, I usually just sit at home, freelance and stuff, plus my hive thing. But as time wore on, I realized I needed a job; something to make me get up in the morning and get back at night. Something that gives me some sense of purpose. I upskilled, and got a gig as a data analyst; well, junior. I loved it. It was a much-needed experience, plus I got to meet beautiful and amazing people and trust me, I love beautiful and amazing people. During all this time, I have had an epiphany. I see people (like me) get up so early and get back so late (like me), and it bothers me. Is this how we would keep going until we wear out our meat suit? Kinda feels like modernized slavery. This made me even more aware of the fact that I needed financial freedom (this is where Leo and Hive come in, hehe), and I needed to take hold of my finances. A lot has happened at the office, and long story short, I was redeployed somewhere else, to do something else. This meant more transportation costs (no I don't have a car), more time spent o the road (I hate it), less sleep (OMG I love my beauty sleep), etc. I tried talking to my boss about working from home or somewhere closer and he talked about logistics and how that would be difficult to pull off. Hence, the topic.
In this fast-paced world, we often associate productivity with a location, Long hours, meeting deadlines, and stuff. But it goes beyond all that. There should be a level of flexibility to things in my opinion. it should be all about optimizing energy, focus, etc, to produce meaningful results. There are simple and definitive ways this could be done. i.e;
- Setting a purpose
- Doing deep work
- Taking breaks at intervals
- Prioritizing energy, not time
etc
There are tons of ways one could be 'productive' that go beyond the clock or the four walls of an office. My boss didn't want to listen (or maybe because there are higher powers at work), so I decided to yap about it here.
Oh well, thank you for reading. Hopefully, you have picked something that'd help you. Cheers
