After a while of been unable to shoot, I still had to make time. I also tried running through my gallery to see what I could find then I stumbled upon this particular one. He (my subject) was nicknamed Shredder for some reason, hence the title, lol.

THE PHOTO-PROCESS

So if you are not familiar with the heading, its this thing I do where I take you through the journey of taking the pictures, the nitty-gritty. Sometimes it can get a little boring but I do delight myself in sharing story.
So on this particular day, a colleague at work asked me to take pictures of him for that sake. It was just a normal picture as he said, mostly because he had this cool turtle neck shirt on and he had a cool nose mask. I also felt we might actually be able to bring some pretty decent photo into existence with the dress up, so away we go.

This photo above I can say is categorically one of my finest shot yet. You can attribute that to a number of reason. O tried the color and vibrance on it but I prefer it in black and white as it adds a bit more detail and texture to the show. I basically started off with a basic rule of Thirds for the composition, then I tried to make him face to sun, hence the glare. That was actually not intentional but I went with it. The rails behind and the greens beside made me all the more satisfied with the shot. His look, the mask and the slight casting shadow made it even more appealing in my opinion. Hr asked me "How should I make my face", I said, "go kill it".

You know that feeling when you want to express your self, in my country Nigeria we'd call it "Show your self", that was the exact feeling he had while I was taking the shot. I definitely remember the rail from the last photo, yup, it was a staircase. I encouraged him to go sit on it and "show himself" and that was what he did. I also tried to make the rail like leading lines for the composition of the shot but it wasn't exactly leading to the subject. One notable thing I do Try to do is making my subject comfortable. It helps to bring out their "me" version which personally for me as a photography is great.

I took more than two photos of this day but I preferred this two and luckily, so did my muse.

THE POST PROCESS

Again, if you are not familiar with the heading, this is where I mention if I edited the photos, what application or software and a little bit how I edited it. For this couple of pictures, I edited them on the lightroom mobile app.

In general

  • Exposure - -5
  • Saturation - -100
  • Sharpening - 20
  • Vibrance - 10
The above are the similar edit in the photos, the rest were tailored to my desire and the type and outcome of the photo in it self.
