We are rebuilding the ranked AI Trainer into a real opponent, one measured phase at a time.
Right now you beat our ranked practice AI about four times out of five, and that
is not the fight we want it to be. This patch is the groundwork for changing it: a
ground-up overhaul of how the AI Trainer drafts its team, reads the board, and
scales its difficulty to your rank. It turns on in careful, measured phases, so
look for the practice opponents to sharpen over the next few updates.

The ranked AI Trainer is getting a serious overhaul
We took a hard look at the ranked AI Trainer and did not like what we found.
Across thousands of recent ranked matches, pilots were winning close to four
out of five games against it, and the difficulty setting barely moved that. A
practice opponent you beat on autopilot is not teaching you anything.
So we rebuilt it. The Trainer now drafts more complete, coherent teams instead
of falling back on a weak template, and weighs each Fighter for the slot it is
actually filling. On top of that we built difficulty that is meant to climb
with your rank, and opponents that learn to adapt to the kinds of teams real
pilots bring, so a single lineup will not walk over them forever.
The deeper changes ship quietly first and switch on step by step, each one held
against real match data before it stays on. A Trainer that is unfair or
unpredictable is worse than one that is too easy, so we are taking this in
measured stages. Expect the ranked practice opponents to sharpen over the next
several updates, not all at once.
This is a long project and we are building it in the open. Thanks for playing the
