I just finished a 5.015km running that lasted about 0hh:25mm:39ss !
After my long cycle ride yesterday I was not sure how my legs would be, but they felt okay when I got up. It was a little chilly first thing, but fine for running. It has warmed up a lot since then. I am sticking to my regular Saturday 5km course that is about 1km from home. I do a very gentle jog to get there and warm up.
I had my phone playing some podcasts (The Now Show, Guardian Science and Artistworks) and also was getting lap times from the Garmin app. The splits were not bad and I felt quite good generally. Of course it was hard work, but then it does not generally get easier, just quicker. There were a few dog walkers and runners out plus a lady I often see race walking. Most said good morning. People are keeping their distance, but may be getting friendlier as we are all feeling the strain.
Running up the hill may never be fun, but coming down feels good and I was getting some speed up there. I managed a few personal segment bests this time. It seems that interval training is paying off. A 5km time of 25:35 is my best in a while. By the time the proper parkrun starts up again I may be seeing improvements there too.
I just heard the government is trying to dissuade people from going out even though the weather is nice, but a little local exercise is beneficial. We are lucky to have our big garden. I was just out moving a compost bin whilst the chicken pecked it over. We have our son re-laying some slabs that have shifted and got too many weeds.
Enjoy the good weather if you can and stay safe.
