I just finished a 5.044km running that lasted about 0hh:26mm:52ss !
In the absence of organised parkrun I have worked out my own 5km course that I will try to run every week to monitor my progress. I did it last week and may have over-done it as my legs were aching all week. I felt up to trying it again today and went a bit quicker. The course involves a lot of climbing and even has some jumps over a small fence and some obstacles to deter cycling on some paths. The long, straight downhill at the end means I can finish fairly fast.
I have about a 1km jog to the start line to warm up. I tried to not set off too quickly and so was able maintain a more consistent pace this time. I will aim to do a long run tomorrow and some intervals sessions during the week.
Due to the coronavirus lockdown there are not many people out and about, but I saw a few runners and some dog walkers. I also saw a squirrel. I was listening to some podcasts that included The Now Show. Even they are affected as they usually record in front of an audience, but are not all doing it from home.
As long as I do not get sick I will try to keep running and possibly come out of this a bit fitter.
Hope everyone is doing okay. Run free and stay well.
