The artists who stuck with Steem

I wrote a few days ago about reasons creative people might not join Steem and I tried to refute some of them. They included:

Steem is small and not well known, but there is a chance to get in early and establish yourself.
It takes time to interact with fans across multiple platforms. For the potential audience here that is an issue.
Dodgy blockchain stuff! I do see suspicions that blockchain is just trendy technology or even a scam in some other communities. We can tell our stories to show that is not true.
Trolls will flag you. That is a risk and it has happened in a few cases. People have been driven away. We have to stick up for those we want to stay.
Steem is complicated. The keys are confusing at first and various aspects of how it works are obscure, but thousands of non-technical people use it every day. Some of the dapps like Partiko make it simpler.

I want to feature some artists who have kept going with Steem despite these issues. They may not have gotten rich from it, but they obviously think it has some value. I will not share their work here as I want you to go to their feeds and vote it up. That said, here are a couple of works I have on my wall by @katharsisdrill and @paolobeneforti. I bought the one on the left for Steem and Paolo drew my portrait at Steemfest 2.

Art

I encountered @skyleap some time before Steem appeared on Tsu. He does great profile artwork in a distinctive style. He has drawn me more than once and I still use on of those as my avatar. He will draw you too for a fee. A lot of his posts are in Japanese, but you can still appreciate the art.

@paolobeneforti and @silviabeneforti are a couple of artists from Italy who are continuously creating and posting their work. I think they have both tried selling work for Steem via various outlets, but we still lack an ideal marketplace that makes this seamless.

@katharsisdrill is in Denmark has paints digitally. His Phill from GCHQ comic has run here for years and he posts other sketches from his strange imagination.

@sanderjansenart has a unique style featuring strange creatures that I like. He just celebrated getting to 1000SP.

@opheliafu joined Steem before I did. I think she has been continuously posting her work since then.

@drwatson have been posting works in progress of their gothic horror comic for a couple of years whilst raising funds to get it printed.

There are lots of others, but I wanted to prove that those who say 'there is no good content on Steem' or 'good content does not get votes' are wrong. We can have more than just posts about Steem, and I am conscious that this is one, but I am trying to encourage support of the the sort of content that will draw in those who are not necessarily into crypto. They want to see good art and be able to reward the artists.

I do have plans to buy more art with Steem, but I need the price to go up a bit first as I am desperately powering up. I would interested to hear from these and other artists about their experience with Steem and why they stay.
