I think most developers know about Stack Overflow. It's a Q&A site that covers just about any area of programming. There are variants of it for many other topics. I used to listen to the podcast by the founders Joel Spolsky and Jeff Attwood. They are a couple of very smart guys with great ideas on how to make development better.
Stack Overflow have been running a developer survey for the last few years. Over 64,000 participated this time, including me. It's a great insight into what technologies are used, what people get paid and how they work. It lists the most used languages, but also those that people dread and those they would like to work with. Sometimes you don't get a choice if your employer wants to use a certain language or framework. That may be forced on them by other factors.

I've been a developer for many years. I've used several types of BASIC, Pascal, C++, C#, Python, Java, assembler, Oracle SQL and probably a few others. There's many more I'd like to try if I had time. I have started having a play with accessing the Steemit blockchain via Python. There are some libraries that make it fairly easy and I really like Python anyway as it's very powerful, but still easy to understand.
