Well the $HIVE price did briefly get to 11c this week, but has dropped again. It is still tracking with the legacy coin, but the gap is increasing and $LEO is up there too. Are you buying any of them? If other Hive coins are listed on Coingecko then I may be able to add them to the chart.
Various Hive projects are showing lots of activity. @peakd has integrated the new user icons I mentioned previously. I have not tried creating my own yet, but there are some like these :peakd/hive: :peakd/peakd:. They are also working on user stores. I have seen
@paolobeneforti is selling his art through that, but the feature still has some issues as I do not see the images in the posts even though they appear on the feed.
@chiren is working on a Patreon/Substack dapp that encrypts posts that you can pay to subscribe to. Hive is a small audience, but it is features like this that may bring in new creators who get fed up with the corporate platforms.
@snapie has audio and people are posting 'dad jokes' with it.
@hassemer is still working on Hive Mail so you can send messages encrypted with your keys. Of course we also have the chat features in Ecency and Peakd for short messages. We should be using these instead of other platforms.
I mentioned the chat options above that can be great to talk to fellow Hivers, but they also give scammers an opportunity. I had this message today in @ecency and it immediately rang alarm bells for me. Firstly, if anyone wants to reward the community they would announce it in a post. Then the 40% rewards seems unrealistic. I looked up the account and it is brand new with no posts or comments. They avoid those as they could be downvoted. They have lots of followers, but all those I checked are also new with no posts.
I will say once again that you should be wary of clicking links from anyone you do not know. If the site wants your keys then stay well away. We have seen people lose funds and even their accounts with scams like this.
We need ways to mark accounts as dangerous. We do have the blacklist. I just tried blacklisting this account, but it does not seem to show any indicator in peakd. There was a browser extension I used before that would add a banner if an account was on certain blacklists. I am not sure if that still exists.
I have also seen fake accounts on other platforms pretending to be Hive. They will try to get you into chats to get access to your account. Always check who you are talking to and be wary.
I have always said that Hive is like the wild west and we will get some outlaws as well as bullies. The system is very open, but it has some defences. Downvotes are one of those and people will use them to make abusive content less visible. We cannot stop people from posting, but it can make them less annoying. If a low reputation tags me or comments then I do not get notified. You can also mute specific accounts.
Stay safe and Hive five!
