I was never a regular pub-goer until I started the local music session. That has expanded to the point where I can be out three or four times in a week. This week I was at the social club on Tuesday for a rehearsal of our band. I only had a half then. On Wednesday it was our weekly acoustic session at The White Horse. That was well attended. A couple of ladies who have been away for a while came back to visit us. I saw they had a new beer called Icebreaker that I thought I ought to try. It was a little more expensive than the other ales they have. Good old Greene King IPA is £3.40 and this was £4! Was it worth it? It is one that is served cold, a bit like their East Coast that I liked. It is very hoppy and that seemed a bit much at first, but it got better as I got through it. I tend to be thinking about the music and so my mind was not so much on the beer. I may try it again some time.
The Piano Man brought along his latest car boot sale acquisitions. It is an autoharp that makes a nice noise and looks to be relatively easy to play. He had to do a little more on it before it was playable.
You will see we also had a flute as well as clarinet and penny whistle. On one song they all joined in and I got my harmonica out too. We like to make a noise.
Last night I was back at the social club for the monthly open mic. We were a little short of musicians, but that meant we got to play more than usual. It is a good thing I know lots of songs. I was drinking London Pride. The club has cheaper beers than most pubs. My beer is actually in a Hobgoblin glass.
There was a fairly noisy bunch of people in the club, but they seemed to enjoy the music and joined in on a few songs. I am happy to get any sort of audience response really. I just want them to listen.
I will be back at the social club today as they are having a bit of a party in the garden with lots of live music. Our jazz group are playing and I may get a solo slot too. I do need to watch how much beer I have as it does not always agree with me. I think that is part of getting older. I do not drink to get really drunk these days as I know I will regret it.
I will post this on the #BeerSaturday challenge by @detlev. You can win Steem and Beer tokens by taking part. I can distribute tokens to good posts and comments.
Cheers!
