Description from Strava:
I have done pacing several times at Henlow Bridge Lakes. So far that has been at 32 minutes, but this time I got 30, which is actually easier for me as it is a pace I would typically do on a gentle run.
I was at our open mic last night where I had a couple of beers. That did not give me the best night's sleep, but I was up in time anyway.
It was a nice morning. We did not get the rain we hoped for this week, but then I prefer it dry at parkrun. Someone initially forgot the pacer vests and had to go home for them, but they arrived in time. The fastest was for 20 minutes, but I pick something I can easily manage.
I did not seem to have anyone who stuck with me the whole way. There was one guy who said he would try to, but I had to adjust my pace a bit and lost him. Towards the end there were several runners just ahead of me who seemed to speed up to get in ahead of me. That is fine if it gets them a good time. There was a young lad just behind me who got a PB.
We usually get coffee from the bean-to-cup machine in the shop, but that is out of order. We were told there was someone doing coffee on the other side of the camp site so we set off to find them. The guy from Oh Crumbs Coffee was friendly and said he had done some parkruns. His coffee was good.
I will be back to trying to improve on my time next week.
One of my kids has been involved in setting up a new parkrun in Germany and they had their first actual run today with eighty finishers. That is a great start.
Run free and get to parkrun.
