Description from Strava:
As my friend @livinguktaiwan was going to be over from the West Country she suggested having a meetup in London. We used to have these fairly often, but it has been a while. I can easily get a train into town, so of course I was interested.
My old friend @adetorrent said he could come.
@nicklewis was going to be there, but had car trouble, so it ended up with just three of us.
Friday was really wet, but it was not too bad as I walked to the station. I got the train to Farringdon and then walked past Smithfields Market and the Barbican to the venue near Liverpool Street Station. That is not an area I know too well, but I could see there had been a lot of development. We met at Mr Fogg's Tavern which is part of a chain of bars. It was a modern building, but themed around Victorian times with lots of knickknacks. I assume they are named for the character in Around The World in 80 Days.
Ade has lots of photos in his post. I liked how he asked the servers if they accepted $HIVE. You can pay with crypto in some places in London, but not these.
We had a great chat ranging over the years we have been on this blockchain that brought us together. There have been so many people who came and went with various 'scandals'. It is like the wild west in many ways.
After a drink we went to Spitalfields Market where there were a few food stalls. I was going to have a burrito, but they had run out of veggie sauce, so it changed to a quesadilla with cheese and halloumi.
The rain had stopped by the time I walked back to the station. I need to go back and explore some more in daylight.
I hope we can have some more meetup events as they are always fun. I will get to any I can.
I was logging this walk for the Move-ember challenge at work. I did log the walk at my end, but Strava did not like that I took the train and so I had to crop it.
