Amid the floodwaters of sexual harassment and misconduct accusations across the US, just how much time should one be allowed to make allegations?
Among the latest to fuel the spotlight is former publisher of The Anniston Star newspaper in Alabama. Recently serving as the Chairman of the Board of the company which owns the paper Brandt Ayers has resigned amid spanking allegations. A woman reporter says she was spanked by Ayers - against her will - in the newsroom. No word how long the spanking lasted or how hard.
But the greatest fact to stand out is that this alleged incident did not happen recently - it supposedly took place in the 70s.
This is not the only spanking allegation against Ayers. Other women employees have come forward with similar allegations going back to, yes the 1970s. Ayers has admitted to slapping the derriere of one of the women on the advice of his doctor. No details given. And at least one staffer reports witnessing one of the incidents.
The questions are how long should someone in similar situations be held accountable for their actions? And should there be a limit on the time these allegations can be brought forward?
