Nothing lasts forever but the earth and sky
It slips away
And all your money won't another minute buy

-Kansas, "Dust In The Wind"

How long before today's fake money system blows up?

The average dollar bill only lasts about 18 months before it wears out. The current US Federal Reserve System was created 105 years ago. The central bank's purpose was not to help people, rather the banks in times of crisis, such as runs on banks when depositors wanted more cash than banks could provide.

Since that time our country was removed from the gold standard and nothing of agreed, lasting value backs it up. Today the US dollar floats freely in a world of vast currencies.

Lately the dollar is getting killed. Since this time last year, the world's reserve currency has had the worst sustained fall in at least 14 years.

We will likely face a year ahead of growing inflation. More dollars will be needed to run our everyday lives. In 2007, inflation was just north of 4%. Today the government claims it's half that. By contrast, 1980 inflation almost hit 15 %. Cumulative inflation since 1913 has caused an item costing $1.00 to launch to $25.00 today.

The US debt now is now $20.6+ Trillion. The money continues to be printed and Treasury Department attempts to manage it.

Terrifying is the word to describe who holds the debt; Social Security Trust Fund and Federal Disability Insurance Trust Fund, Office of Personnel Management Retirement , Military Retirement Fund, Medicare, plus all the other retirement funds, private and public. Add in the banks, investors, state and local governments, the Fed, foreigners and most of all you and me.

You can see how this is not a setup for any pretty ending.

Some currency would need to replace the dollar to continue the exchange of value. Are any cryptocurrencies going to be a player? There are nearly 14-hundred cryptos today and growing. Will an already existing currency, traditional or otherwise take over?

For the dollar collapse to be triggered, a cataclysmic event; natural, human-caused, including nuclear war would have to happen.

I hope none of does, yet I am prepared and continue to be more so, should finality arrive.

There are plenty of suggestions out there how to hedge your lifestyle to ensure your safety, survivability and recovery of yourself and family. Everybody's situation is different and choosing a plan is unique. The most important thing is to make sure to commit a plan and put it in place. Only then can you properly respond to anything thrown at you. And that's exactly how it's likely to happen. We will all be broadsided, no time to think other than resorting to the backup plan for which you have prepared.
