Do you know that you don’t know?
Or do you think you know what you don’t know?
Or do you know that you don’t know what you think you know?

Knowledge Doesn’t Change Behavior

So why is it that there’s divorced marriage therapists, doctors who are in shitty health, architects that have poorly designed houses, lawyers that go against the law and so on?
Perhaps because there’s a world of difference between knowing and applying.
Knowing from an intellectual point of view what is right v.s. what is wrong doesn’t guarantee that you won’t fall under the charms of doing something "bad".
We’re only humans after all, and by nature, we are fallible, no matter if the odds are in our favor or against us.

I may have read an infinite number of books on the science of romantic relationships and desire, marriage, divorce, and so on, but that doesn’t mean that my personal love life is at the same level of all the knowledge I’ve cumulated on the subject over the years.

In fact, paradoxically, sometimes knowing is a double-edged weapon, because it makes it easier for you to detect all the shitty stuff that goes around in this mad world. (and in people’s behaviors)
It’s interesting to me that even though humans know better, they don’t choose to do better.

Knowing that I shouldn’t run like a manic when I’m injured won’t stop me from saying fuck it to my body and going for it anyway.
Knowing that injecting some toxic chemical into your veins won’t stop you from doing it every chance you get.
Knowing that eye fucking this hottie is risky business for your relationship won’t stop you from breaking your moral code.
Knowing that your Ego will eventually erode all that’s good in your marriage doesn’t mean you’ll throw that motherfucker evil in the garbage can of McDonalds parking lot.

The truth is that Swiftie was right. We’re trouble when we walk in any fucking where.
So let’s keep on binging the night away, because when you only ate an extra cookie for the day, might as well go all out since your diet is ruined regardless.
