It is no surprise that there are some who wish to colonize Mars. Although this has been a fascination with many science enthusiasts for decades, there are those, such as Elon Musk and Jeff Bezos, who are making very real strides and efforts to make colonization a reality.
However, there seems to be some that are thinking of a unique strategy: instead of us going all the way to Mars, make Mars come closer to us. That is, realign Mars' orbit so that it fits closer in to the so-call "Goldilocks zone" of our solar system's mechanism where light and heat are more amenable to life as we know it.
Although technically possible, it seems to be a highly inefficient, ineffective and extremely dangerous path to take. If nothing else, our solar system and it's balance of orbiting planets is governed by the relational gravity pulls of all the planets, the sun, the moons, the asteroids and all the rest of the stuff that spins around in our celestial neighborhood. Messing with that balance could easily and irrevocably disrupt that balance, destroying our entire solar system in the bargain. That seems a pretty big price to pay just so we can have a second home, closer by.
Not that anybody is taking this idea that seriously, or at least anyone that I know of... but it is an interesting thought exercise and shows how creative minds can work a difficult problem.
