One important food items that makes India a sweet nation. A particular sweet that everyone knows. I remember, once I had a friend visiting from abroad and I ask her what she like to taste among Indian dishes and her instant reply was Rasgulla. It was quite shocking name as i never expected to get a so prompt answer. was pretty amazed and she was very excited. It was a shocking because Rasgulla is a very common sweet in India and is so famous all over the world.

Rasgulla is actually a sweet white balls of Chisel oil fried and then dipped in Sugar syrup. It becomes quite spongy once it get dipped into Sugar Syrup.

Visit anywhere in India, or go to any sweet shop, you will easily get to see Rasgulla as their main selling item. Infact few shop owners get so much speciality of this sweet that they keep them openly . Easily they able to get the customers and sell all the product in hand.

May be many would think it to be unhygenic , but take my words this particular product sold off very quickly. Even there were other sweet items too available but, Rasgulla get common name on everyone tongue. They are so soft they it can easily get into mouth and chewed. I often the open sweet shop pulls you to have a take on the sweet item.

There is no harm jn calling this sweet item as the king of sweets. This is infact one of the oldest sweet dish too and said to have orginiated in regions of Eastern India (Kolkatta / Orissa). The ruler of these kingdom used to saviour these sweets a lot.

However, there is bitter rivalry too behind the Sweet of India. It is said that bothe the states Kolkata and Orissa have taken the case to the higher judiciary in India to claim it to be their product. So this sweet item has some bad history too.

There were many stories found around the internet over the origination of this sweets. Few claim it to be product of Kolkata whereas few people claim it to be the product of Orissa. Such is the craze of this sweet that both the states are fighting legally over its ownership. There were no patents/copyright law in ancient time which makes it pretty difficult to get to the origination of Rasgulla. Few people says this sweet used to offer to goddess in temples and few says it to be the secret desert of the kings.

Ufff.....

I am really tired reading to all the stories related with Rasgulla. People are insane enough to fight over the sweet item as there is nothing else to look after.

Rather the sweet item is so sweet that simply enjoy it whenever you get a chance. But the craze of this sweet can let people to get to its initial phase only to get into bitter history.
