Fruits have a lot more power than people give them credit for. We mostly eat them raw or cook them but some people know to use them topically (on the skin) to have healthy, glowing skin. Just like earlier discussed (about the effects of fruits on the heart, brain), fruits have amazing effects on the skin.
Due to the high antioxidant contents of fruits, they are particularly useful in countering and reversing free-radicals damage on the skin. Some fruits are actually used in bleaching the skin. Others work wonderfully well for exfoliation.
Lots of fruits are good for the body and skin but the following 5 fruits go out of their way to do the skin serious good.

Lemon
Lemon

Lemon packs a good amount of vitamin C which is generally good for the body. Involved in collagen synthesis, it helps in wound healing. Drinking lemon juice with honey daily helps with detoxification of the body as a whole. It helps clear acne spots and other dark blemishes.
It's a natural bleach, lightening the skin tone without negative residual effects like the artificial bleaching creams available these days. Apart from drinking the juice, the inner part of the peel can be applied on skin blemishes to help clear them. It's however not a good idea to apply it on open wounds.

Papaya
papaya

I visited my uncle 2 days ago and his wife brought sliced papayas for us. I loved it; it was actually better than getting a soda or alcoholic beverage. Papaya contains papain which aids in digestion of proteins as well as having antioxidative properties.
Simply eating this is great for your skin. It can also be mashed and applied to the skin to get a brighter glow. Studies done on papaya have proved that it's good for the skin which is why lots of skin lotions contain papaya extract. Why go artificial when you can do natural. Everyone loves a naturally beautiful skin.

Pineapple

Pineapples are quite tasty but personally, they tend to peel my tongue whenever I eat them. That's not necessarily a bad thing. On the skin it acts as a very good natural exfoliant.
It contains the enzyme, Bromelain which is a potent anti-inflammatory agent. It has a lot of medical applications but for now we'll focus on the effects on the skin. Pineapple contains a large amount of it. It's what gives pineapple it's exfoliatory ability.
Pineapple juice or pulp can be topically applied to help remove dead cells to give a clearer and healthier skin. It contains antioxidants that cancel out the effects of free-radicals in the body and the skin.

Bananas
Banana

Lots of people don't like bananas and I'm still yet to understand why. At the moment I have two friends who don't like bananas. One said its because it's too soft while the other said its the smell. Whatever the reason is, it looks like they are the ones loosing. Banana has amazing skin healing properties. For those that have tried banana peels, they'll testify of those this benefit.
Banana contains vitamin vitamins A, C, K, E, dilated as well as potassium, magnesium, calcium, phosphorus. It's a wonderful moisturizer and helps remove acne spots. So if you can't eat it, then let your skin have it.

Mangoesmangoes

If you haven't had mangoes in your life, you should try it at least once. It's so high in fiber that you shouldn't get constipated if you eat it regularly.
They have an abundance of vitamins A, C, E and K, flavonoids, polyphenols, beta-carotene, and xanthophylls. Mangoes aid in protection of DNA from damage as well as inflammatory changes on the skin.
People in some parts of the world don't have access to fresh mangoes but these days, it seems you can easily get lotions containing extracts of fruits and mango is definitely not left out of that pool.
It's always better to go for the fresh fruits themselves but if you have to go for body lotions, try those with extracts from the above mentioned fruits.
