I've been working on this a lot of the past 7-8 months, its part of the exam to get my "gold belt" which is like a traditional black belt level.
There are definitely some weaknesses here on my fundamentals, but also some poor areas of prettiness haha, i need to smooth out and pretty up the last spin and the final 3-4 moves.
My teacher says its called the monkey staff because of the way you hold your hands on the staff, a lot of palms down and hooked wrists. You spend a lot of attention on switching which end strikes, and it gives the illusion of changing the length of the staff. Almost every strike you "change the length."
