after I have read very intensively on the platform in the last weeks and here and you there have also added my mustard, I would like to go through a thought game.
What do you think? Where do you see Social Media Blockchain in the long run?
I noticed that a lot of the contributions on this platform are rather special, either directly related to the Hive Blockchain or in the area of crypto currencies. Clearly less you see other topics available.
This may become a bit blurred if you dive into the less present contributions, but for the unsophisticated user the offered topic area seems to be limited at first sight. Since his impressions, especially when he reads about Hive.Blog, at the beginning works strongly through the trending area and the displayed top communities.
I think in the long run such a platform has to cover a whole different range of topics to be able to go through a mass adaptation. I suspect that the majority of the common social media users see a landscape of foreign topics, which do not affect them directly or indirectly at the beginning, as long as they did not find the platform through their interest in the crypto market. Here, I specifically orientate myself towards the average, since this example user still originates from a niche.
Well, it happened to me that I wanted to search for something but could not do so. At the beginning I didn't realize that there are several front-ends that appear in different quality. On Hive.blog my yield was very poor:
This is a bit difficult, especially if you have specific interests that you're looking for in social media on a regular basis. For my part, I think that such "little things" keep a lot of standard users from using social media based on blockchain. Except for all the peculiarities of security and consensus mechanisms such as key management, stake management, etc.
But apart from these observations I shared above, I ask myself an interesting question.
Will this project, or projects of this kind, serve a niche audience, or will it one day become the basis for the "online life" of ordinary people?
I do see potential that such a development could be realized in the more distant future, even though it would probably mean a long way and some work, but is this perspective realistic?
I honestly don't know, maybe if people have understood the benefits of "independent networks" on a large scale, or if the respective networks are maturing in a way that will offer other advantages and eliminate disadvantages in the future.
