Self-medication is tricky. Sometimes it works, sometimes it gets us worse. It doesn't help that most of the pharmacies particularly here in the Philippines doesn't do much in terms of educating its customers about the medicines they are buying. In worst cases, some pharmacies especially small ones do not have a licensed pharmacist manning their stores. So if you have questions about dosages and proper intake, then you are really on your own with your self-medication.

The good news is there's a local chain of drug store that is stepping up to guide their customers regarding proper medication. I recently bought a medicine from Generika Drugstore for my cough and to my surprise, this piece of paper was handed to me together with the receipt:
It is a "Gamot" (Medicine) Guide that contains really super important information regarding the medicine that I ordered including indication, dosing, administration, storage, a reminder and even its side effects!
There is also a reminder on top of the stub that as much as possible, we should consult a doctor and avoid self-medication. How thoughtful right?
Well, I'm really thankful for this because without this piece of paper, I would surely take these pills every 8 hours like what I've been doing in the past!
So thank you Generika for taking that extra step to educate us. Great use of technology right there guys!
