I’m a long distance runner,
but my race is too long,
I’m racing my patience,
and I’m falling behind,
I’m a rat in a cage,
and I want outside.

I have a lot on my plate,
but nothing to eat,
Between smiles and laugh,
I feel I’m getting sick.
I’m stuck in a race,
never wanted to be a part,
and now that I’m in,
it’s pulling me apart.

I’m a puzzle,
I’m looking for a missing piece,
When I think I found it,
Another one has split.

I’m a long distance runner,
in a race far too long,
I wonder if will ever
to finish I’ll be strong.
