After years of dealing with a spouse hooked on drugs my step-daughter and I hopped on my scooter and ran away in hopes of finding a new hope. After 9 hours of anxiety we found a place on the side of the road to crawl inside our sleeping bags for the night and this image filled our dreams that night.
The following day finally got us out of Texas and a heavy weight seemed to be magically lifted off my back as the reality sank in. Miles and miles later we stopped in for a bite to eat with these guy and hung around the rest of the day to see the sights.
Woke up the next morning arose all day as far as we could looking for a sign to point is in the right direction. Lord have mercy 3 days now sitting on this glorified over-sexed scooter.
Yes I know hard to believe that thing would carry the two of us along with near all are belongings but we were desperate to get away and that's all we had. Nonetheless the mighty Bergman 650 found the sign we were looking for after a freezing 17 degree morning rice from off the high desert we arrived at the halfway point.
We didn't have much time or money for that matter but did find time to stop by and see the count .
Looked at a few cars.
Had a near full blown panic attack looking at my wallet but stuck to the plan and found a buyer to get rid of the Burgman. I did so love the little scoot scoot and feel the need to include her final picture.
After she was gone another sigh of relief with a few dollars in my pocket and Expedia confirmation of plane tickets in my in box we hopped on a plane and flew away as far as we could holding on to the tree of hope picture that we had from the first night of our journey.
The next day we woke in what seemed to be another world. And after my friend drove us around a bit we found a trail that led us to a ever so short moment of reprise.
Great music there indeed and the visuals weren't bad either.
Finally... Finally away from the chaos the screaming the heartache. Panic depression sets in and I feel like I'm losing my mind and going stark raving mad until I found this ancient ground.
So many images there it would take days to post them all here and shortly our time on the Hawaiian Islands led us to the end of our journey as even the most well laid out plans don't always go as you plan. With lessons and reminders of promises on the last day walking the long walk from the homeless shelter we were blessed yet again with this.
Another long flight and a day drive across several states I dropped my step-daughter off at a friends house and being near broke and not wanting to go anywhere near the madness we fled from I went to the one place I know I'd be safe and feel at home... Crawled out of my sleeping bag and realised yet again another blessing. You can run from your troubles but it was good to be back home.
Thank you for going on my insomniac trip down memory lane. I hope you enjoyed it as much as the kid and I.
