Another sunset on our homestead...
Another day of unfinished projects, postponing so-called priorities but managing to feel good about it, just going with the flow.
We started the day with a nice fire, to get the chill out of our kitchen/ living room and bones, and had a yummy breakfast, prepared by the lovely @clareartista
Afterwards, we went to the local hotel ( a 10 minute drive away ) for our first (proper) shower in quite a while.
What followed was a bit of shopping and some serious farmer's lunch ( double lunch for me, as my starter consisted of a remainder of yesterday's dinner and this morning's brekkie ).
And after some tea and biscuits on our roof terrazzo ( depicted on the photo above ), we headed to a goodbye party of neighbours/ friends of ours. They are moving to a big city in the North, on the first of November.
Days ago, we learnt that they are doing away with a lot of building materials on their land. As we have two hectares of land, plenty of building/ home renovation and garden projects coming up and - more importantly - are low on funds and live nearby, we decided to get a couple of car loads of, among other things , building- and fire wood, chicken wire/ fencing, roof tiles, barrels etc.
Thus we returned from our friends with a carload of stuff, just before sunset.
Clare spent an hour or so rinsing out washing, whilst I unloaded the car, cleaned the poop bucket and prepared some firewood.
Now we're eating homemade oatcakes with butter and locally produced honey. The fire is burning nicely, in the background, and our two cats finally stopped meowing and settled down in a warm place.
No more food for them tonight. We need them to catch mice. Last night and this morning we kept being woken up by possible rodent activity in our bedroom.
Never a dull day in the countryside, I guess.
Tomorrow is another day. Our main focus will be on making our bedroom roof (more) waterproof.
Wish us luck 馃
