Question: Is it possible to get android on your TV?
Answer: Yes, if you have a Raspberry Pi.
So your 42in TV isn't smart enough to deal with digital signals and you're geek enough to try it? Get yourself a raspberry pi 3 for $35, a micro SD card for another $20 and follow the instructions at this website:
https://howtoraspberrypi.com/install-android-raspberry-pi/
Do that and you will have turned your dumb TV into a smart Android TV and proudly post your image on steemit.
Flashing the image to the micro SD card is pretty straight forward if you're using Linux you simply open a terminal and use dd if=imagefilename of=/dev/sdx where x is wherever your SD card is and viola - scratch - sudo or root required to dd.
Install the SD in the pi, plug it in and shazamm Android on a TV screen.
Google play is not part of the image but if you follow the instructions above you can adb to the ip address of the raspberry and after it reboots Google play store will be installed as well. After that it's just a matter of signing in to Google and having to deal with their security issues of you run in to problems with server login issues as I did. Eventually you'll get it and be fast installing the latest Android apps to make your Android Pi TV a reality you might not have thought possible. Give it a try. Let me know how it works out.
