Hello everyone! Have you ever wondered what The Vigilator really looks like? So for this week's Splinterlands Art Contest, I tried to imagine what The Vigilator looks like when it is out from its burrow or sand. As said in its Lore, "No Vigilator has ever been recovered from the sand, so ideas of what they look like are mostly guesses." Based from the card image, it has pincers with tooth-blades, a scorpion-like tail and several horns on its back or maybe those are also teeth/fangs.
Drawing Process
For starters, I created two drafts using pencil and paper. Image 1 has a head same with its pincers and Image 1 has a head same with an Ant Lion. Both has a mouth like opening on its back with a set of teeth. It has four pincers with tooth-blades and a scorpion-like tail. Its legs has a razor like thing which the main purpose is for burrowing.
I decided to use Image 2 as my final draft and proceeded on tracing it using Sketchbook. I just took a picture of it and then uploaded it to Sketchbook. For the base color, I used a dark orange color as seen in Image 4.
In Image 5, I used pink color for the base of its mouth. And in Image 6, I started applying shadows on its jaws and pincers. The visible leg and the two pincers behind will have darker colors compared with the rest of the body.
In Image 7, I started applying shadows on the rest of the body and in Image 8, I started applying color to its teeth.
In Image 9, I applied shadows to its teeth/fangs and added 6 glowing red eyes. I also added a yellow thingy in its soft parts. In Image 10, I added a brown background similar to the color of the sands in the original image from Splinterlands.
In Image 11, I added a black thing that looks like sand and I also added a border with a color of yellow-gold. And lastly, In Image 12, I added the Splinterlands logo at the bottom right of the image.
Final Output
Here is the final output of my imagination and I hope you like it. 馃槄
