SHADOW NYMPH

Hello everyone! For this week's Art Contest, I would like to present a New Card Idea - Shadow Nymph, a monster unit from Death element.

Lore
Shadow Nymphs are shy but playful creatures that lurk in the shadow of old trees in deep forests of Splinterlands. Ordinary people often cannot see them. However, people would sense their presence when darkness shrouded the surrounding. They are not harmful and heals friendly units when attacked.

At Level 1, Shadow Nymph has 1 Magic Attack, 2 Speed and 3 Health. Her available skill is Tank Heal at Level 1 and will have Camouflage starting at Level 6. Thanks to layfon@layfon for suggesting the Tank Heal ability instead of Affliction.

Card Reference

Shadow Nymph is inspired by the cards River Nymph and Wood Nymph. These are currently the two Nymphs in Splinterlands and I do not know if Dev Team is in-progress of creating other Nymphs for other element. So I decided to create a new character for Death element.

Drawing Process

Rough SketchOutline
I first created a rough sketch of the image. I tried to match the built of the body of my character to Wood Nymph to make it more suitable for a card image. I tried adding a devil wing thingy but the result looked like a demon than a Nymph. I still want to add more details so I decided to add a wing like thingy beside her. I then created a clean Outline after I got satisfied with my sketch.

Base ColorReduced Opacity
For the base color, I used black since the idea is to create a shadow like creature. I then reduced the opacity to see the outline. (Maybe I should have used a different color for the outline?)

EyesHair
I then added the eyes. My first idea is to make a snake like eyes, but that may look like Iza the Fanged. So I changed it to circular eyes. I then added shades on her hair. I used red shades, because why not? Haha! I love the combination of red and black. 😄

FaceBody
Next step is to add shades on her face and then to the body. I also added red highlights/glowing paint on her eyes to make her more vicious. I used gray color for the shades on her face and dark green for her clothes.

AccessoriesBackground Color
I then added tattoo like painting on her face and gold/yellowish rings on her right hand and left leg. And for the background, I also used black to well of course depict darkness. 😅 Even though this is simple for many, I struggled on this a lot because I still want to highlight her body.

Background ShadeGlowing Insects
To make her body more visible, I added violet shades on the background. And lastly, I added glowing insects to make her more visible. I also added the Splinterlands logo at the bottom right of the canvass.

And here is the final output. 😊

Creating the Card

For the card creation process, I used a very helpful tool - https://splinterlandscardmaker.com/. I just uploaded the image of my card and edited other information available.
