Hello, everyone! It's time for another Battle Mage Secrets Weekly Challenge from Splinterlands! For this post, we will talk about the Stampede, in which Trample ability will retrigger infinitely as long as the trampling unit keeps killing other units. For this battle challenge, I will share a battle in Bronze League Modern Format and made use of a Water Summoner. Let's take a closer look.
But before we discuss the Stampede ruleset, let me show you first what Trample ability is.
| "When a Monster with Trample hits and kills its target with a Melee attack, it will perform another Melee attack on the next Monster on the enemy Team" The Trample ability is triggered based on the sequential order of the opponent's monster positions. |
Now, since Stampede will rely on the Trample ability, it is best to use a monster that has the Trample ability or a summoner that grants Trample ability..
| The Stampede ruleset allows the Trample ability to retrigger infinitely - as long as the trampling monster keeps killing other monsters. Prime use case for Summoner Possibilus the Wise. |
This is the reason why I used Water Summoner Possibilus the Wise for this battle because it grants all friendly monsters with Trample ability at the start of the battle, which affects only melee attacks.
Battle Configuration
For this battle, here is the ruleset and mana cap to be considered: Here we have only one ruleset, which is "Stampede: The Stampede ruleset allows the Trample ability to retrigger infinitely - as long as the trampling monster keeps killing other monsters." The mana cap is 25, and the active elements are Fire, Water, Earth, Death, and Dragon. The mana cap is perfect quite alright to use Possibilus the Wise. I believe that this is the only summoner that grants Trample ability to allied monsters. With that said, here is my line-up for this battle.
Summoner: Possibilus the Wise - All friendly monsters receive +2 Health, Trample and Reach ability at the start of the battle. Monsters with Ranged and Magic attacks do not receive these abilities. And because Stampede needs Trample ability, this is the best summoner to use in this ruleset.
Position 1: Cruel Sethropod - Since the mana cap is only 25, I need to use low mana monsters with melee attack and Cruel Sethropod fits the description.
Position 2: Coastal Sentry - This monster has double strike and since it will receive the Reach ability from Possibilus the Wise, I put it in the second position. Two times the attack means that the Stampede can be triggered two times.
Position 3: Deeplurker - I put another melee attack monster in the third position. It has the Sneak ability and can attack from a distance.
Position 4: Torrent Fiend - I used this monster as a filler monster to distract enemies with Sneak or Opportunity abilities.
Let's Rumble
The enemy used Mimosa Nightshade which debuffs the enemy monsters with -1 Ranged Attack and Affliction and at the same time, grants Void ability to allied monsters. All these abilities will not work against my line up, so It is kind of an advantage to me.
The enemy also used Ranged Attack monsters for most of its line up. And most of these have low HP so it increases the chance of Stampede. However, it has Ravenhood Warden that grants +2 Armor to allied monsters. And this will hinder the continuous Trample.
In Round 1, my Cruel Sethropod killed Shadowy Presence and also attacked Halfling Alchemist.
In Round 2, Coastal Sentry activated Trample and killed Shadowy Presence, however, Chaos Agent's armor prevented the Stampede.
Finally in Round 5, Coastal Sentry activated Stampede and killed Zyriel and Scavo Hireling and destroyed Ravenhood Warden's armor in one turn. And since Coastal Sentry can attack twice in one round, it killed Ravenhood Warden in the same round.
