I don't want to go to the hospital please, I'd like to deliver our baby in our house.
Why?
The pandemic is still very much at hand, I don't want to risk or take any chances. At home we can even sterilize the midwife if we so wish and make her adhere to all the precautionary measures as laid down by the health organizations.
These was a conversation between me and my wife weeks before our son was delivered.
So I actually announced on Twitter that I and my wife just had a baby on Tuesday 11th 2020. Well, safe to say she was in labor for almost 5 days, have constant contractions. I have a very strong woman as a wife, that's during the labor period I was so uncomfortable because she was looked so uneasy.
I had to stay away from work for that period because the midwife kept telling us the baby was close. The cervix was open but her water bag wasn't broken yet.
During these period work was the least of my problems, I had to be there for my spouse. I literally couldn't feel the pain she was in but the pain in her eyes was gut cutting. Some people actually suggested the cesarean section but wifey was strongly against it, the sound of a doctor's knife cutting her up was a huge turn off for her.
Little did we know the mediocre we had as a midwife barely understood what she was doing. Apparently, the baby was quite big and weighed 4.3pounds. Yes she have had successful deliveries before but she hadn't delivered this big a baby before and she refused to voice out whether for fear of her reputation being ridiculed or just her plot to use her patient to practice a new venture.
The midwife would prod her hands into my wife in a bid to look for or check the openings and position of the baby. Ultimately, she resorted to asking my wife to exercise because according to her it would bring the baby early yet to no avail. At first it was the strolling exercise which I was OK with at first, then wifey was asked to increase the pace and while i was bothered about the rigorousness the midwife's antics she pulled the last straw and asked my 9 months heavily tummy protruded spouse to jump... Wait a minute, did you say JUMP?
I immediately fired the midwife and requested the services of another midwife in a known hospital to come take the delivery. When we narrated the ordeals we suffered in the hands of the previous midwife she was already upset and asking for descriptions so she can report her to the proper authorities. Well, I was then asked to wait outside and in 1hr 30mins my baby landed.
Mother and son are healthy thank God but I am yet to begin blogging again as I'm preoccupied with daddy duties, staying up late into night involuntarily. This is why lately i haven't made any post on hive, though I've been quite busy on Twitter with my fellow hive Twitter hustlers promoting the blockchain to a larger audience across other social media platforms.
However, never again am I working with unfamiliar with hands. If you haven't been tested and trusted by a reliable source, I ain't doing business with you
PS: The midwives were both traditional practitioners.
