Super Sonic Cake Topper. - Adorno de Torta Súper Sonic.

Hello dear friends! I hope you are all very well.
This time I bring you a cake decoration that for me is very special because I made it for my son whose birthday is tomorrow. For several years it has been my custom to make the decoration for their cake with some character that they like a lot. In March it was the birthday of my son who is now an adult and I made Master Yoda since he has been a Star Wars fan from a very young age. This time the smallest asked me to Super Sonic.

En esta oportunidad les traigo un adorno de torta que para mi es muy especial porque lo hice para mí hijo que mañana cumple años. Desde hace varios años tengo por costumbre hacerles el adorno para su torta con algún personaje que les guste mucho. En marzo fue el cumpleaños de mi hijo que ya es adulto y le hice al maestro Yoda ya que desde muy pequeño es fanático de Star Wars. En esta ocasión el más pequeño me pidió a súper Sonic.

The materials I used are: cold porcelain (necessary colors), vinyl glue, cuttings, two different sized foam spheres, a piece of foam, three foam ice cream pot lid, rolling pin, utility knife, pieces of wire and sandpaper.

Los materiales que utilicé son:porcelana fría (colores necesarios),cola vinilica, estecas,dos esferas de telgopor de diferente tamaño, un trozo de telgopor, tres tapas de pote de helado de telgopor, palo de amasar,cúter,trozos de alambre y lija.

We start with the shoes, cut two little polystyrene squares and with the cutter we give it an almost oval shape. We pass the sandpaper to smooth.
We stretch cold red porcelain, put vinyl glue and cover everything. We remove the surplus.
We make the sole starting from a gray ball, we give a teardrop shape and we flatten. We cut a white strip and make a small rectangle for the detail on the side. We join everything with vinyl glue.

Empezamos con las zapatillas, cortamos dos cuadraditos de telgopor y con el cúter le vamos dando forma casi ovalada. Le pasamos la lija para suavizar.
Estiramos porcelana fría color rojo, ponemos cola vinilica y cubrimos todo. Quitamos el excedente.
Hacemos la suela partiendo de una bolita color gris, damos forma de lágrima y aplanamos. Cortamos una tira color blanco y hacemos un pequeño rectángulo para el detalle del costado. Unimos todo con cola vinilica.

For the stockings we make two equal white balls, we hollow in the middle and make marks on the sides to simulate wrinkles.
For the legs we use two pieces of molded wire according to the position we want them to be covered with cold yellow porcelain, exposing the ends to better insert. We tie everything to the shoe.

Para las medias hacemos dos bolitas blancas iguales, ahuecamos en el medio y hacemos marcas en los costados para simular las arrugas.
Para las piernas usamos dos trozos de alambre moldeados según la posición que queremos que estén y cubrimos con porcelana fría color amarillo dejando descubierto los extremos para insertar mejor. Unimos todo a la zapatilla.

For the body we make a ball, introduce the smallest sphere, close it, shape an elongated teardrop and bend the tip a little for the tail.
For the chest, we make a ball, shape it into a cylinder and flatten it. We hit on the body.

Para el cuerpo hacemos una bolita introducimos la esfera más pequeña, cerramos,damos forma de lágrima alargada y doblamos un poco la punta para la cola.
Para el pecho hacemos una bolita damos forma de cilindro y aplanamos. Pegamos sobre el cuerpo.

For the hands we make two equal balls, we shape a drop, we mark gently in the upper third and lower the lower part a little. We mark the fingers and at the bottom we divide in half to form the palm of the hand. We make a roll and join the end of the hand to make it the thumb.
We repeat the step of the stockings and glue on the lower part of the hand.
For the arms we repeat the step of the legs but shorter.

Para las manos hacemos dos bolitas iguales, damos forma de gota, marcamos suavemente en el tercio de arriba y bajamos un poco la parte de abajo. Marcamos los dedos y en la parte inferior dividimos a la mitad para formar la palma de la mano. Hacemos un rollito y unimos al extremo de la mano para que sea el dedo pulgar.
Repetimos el paso de las medias y pegamos en la parte inferior de la mano.
Para los brazos repetimos el paso de las piernas pero más cortos.

For the head we make a circle with cold white porcelain and stick on the largest foam sphere but only cover half. We stretch cold yellow porcelain and cut into the eyes. We glue to the sphere leaving the white part to be seen, we remove the excess.

Para la cabeza hacemos un círculo con porcelana fría color blanco y pegamos sobre la esfera de telgopor más grande pero solo cubrimos la mitad. Estiramos porcelana fría color amarillo y cortamos dando forma a los ojos. Pegamos a la esfera dejando que se vea la parte blanca, quitamos el excedente.

To make the spikes that it has on the head and body, we make balls and shape an elongated teardrop. We glue with vinyl glue and so that the joints are not noticeable, we melt with water and some stake.

Para hacer los picos que tiene en la cabeza y el cuerpo, hacemos bolitas y damos forma de lágrima alargada. Pegamos con cola vinilica y para que no se note las uniones fundimos con agua y alguna esteca.

For the ears we make two equal balls, we shape a drop, we flatten and we hollow out. It has to be rather triangular in shape.
To fill we repeat the steps but with dough of another color and smaller. We glue on the ears and cut a little at the bottom.
For the nose we make a ball, we shape a cylinder and we flatten. In the middle of the upper part we take out a point to locate the nose that we make with a small elongated ball in black.

Para las orejas hacemos dos bolitas iguales, damos forma de gota, aplanamos y ahuecamos. Tiene que quedar en forma más bien triangular.
Para rellenar repetimos los pasos pero con masa de otro color y más pequeñas. Pegamos sobre las orejas y cortamos un poco en la parte inferior.
Para el morro hacemos una bolita, damos forma de cilindro y aplanamos. A la mitad de la parte superior sacamos una punta para ubicar la nariz que la hacemos con una pequeña bolita alargada en color negro.

To make the ring, cut the edge that has the styrofoam lid, I used two and joined them with paper tape, then I rolled out dough without color and covered the circle. Let it dry for a few hours and I painted with gold acrylic.
For the base I joined three foam covers with paper tape. We stretch cold green porcelain and cover. We remove the excess and we can texture with a brush.

Para hacer el anillo corte el borde que tiene la tapa de telgopor, usé dos y las uni con cinta de papel, luego estire masa sin color y cubri el círculo. Deje que se seque unas horas y pinté con acrílico dorado.
Para la base uní tres tapas de telgopor con cinta de papel. Estiramos porcelana fría color verde y cubrimos. Quitamos el excedente y podemos texturar con algún cepillo.

We join all the parts with vinyl glue. To glue the ring to the base I put a toothpick on it so it doesn't fall off. I made the eyes with cold porcelain but they can also be painted.
It is always advisable to use images from all angles and one that is the size we want to give it to guide us with the proportions. To give it a good structure, use wire or toothpicks and if we use styrofoam, whether they are spheres or we carve, it always has to be smaller than the image since when we cover with the dough it is larger.

Unimos todas las partes con cola vinilica. Para pegar el anillo a la base le puse un palillo para que no se caiga. Los ojos los hice con porcelana fría pero también se pueden pintar.
Siempre es recomendable usar imágenes de todos los ángulos y alguna que tenga el tamaño que queremos darle para guiarnos con las proporciones. Para darle una buena estructura usar alambre o palillos y si usamos telgopor ya sean esferas o tallamos siempre tiene que ser más chico que la imagen ya que cuando forramos con la masa queda más grande.
Espero que estos consejos les sea de utilidad y les haya gustado el trabajo a pesar que es un poco complejo.
