I was bored, so I wanted to sew a little; the bad thing is that I don't know how to sew from scratch, only transform clothes, so I rummaged through my things for something that was worth it enough, but not so much that I'd feel bad if I ended up ruining it. Are you ready? Join me in this task where anything can happen.

But first, let's prepare our materials.

Materials

We need...

• A blouse

• Thread and needle

• Ruler

• Pen

• Scissors

• Small hooks to fasten the fabric

• Safety pin

And a lot of patience and courage.

This is the little blouse I'll be transforming. It has a very pretty shape, a round neckline and the sleeves are one of my favorite styles. I loved it a lot just as it was, but I also felt it was very basic.

When I went on Pinterest, I just happened to find an image (link to the image here) that really caught my attention because the process seemed very simple, so today you'll join me to find out if it's as easy as it seems, and my red blouse will serve as a sacrifice in this experiment. We're going to turn this into a bolero.

The first step is to put the garment inside out. Then, take a pen or anything to mark a straight vertical line, from the neckline to the bottom edge; I did it with the help of the ruler. To know which is the middle of the garment, I measured with the ruler and divided it in two.

Once the line is made, we cut the garment. Here there was no turning back; if this didn't turn out well, I would have ruined a garment, hahaha.

Then, with the garment right side out, again, we're going to fold it inward to make the tunnel. I folded exactly 2 cm of fabric inward, and since I don't have those little hooks used in sewing to hold the fabric in place, I used hair clips.

The tunnel has to go through the whole blouse, including the neckline. I must admit that the sleeve and neckline part was very complicated because of the seams that were already there, but the important thing is to do it calmly.

Then I proceeded to sew to close that tunnel, making a stitch whose name I don't know, hehe, but it's just making a little stitch on the visible part of the garment. Just as seen in the photo on the right.

Once the edges are sewn, it would look like this. I apologize for the color of the thread; I don't have red thread, that's why I made the stitching in a way that the color of the thread wouldn't show on the outside.

Now, we'll take the safety pin and hook it to the end of the ribbon. This hook helps us have a grip when we're sliding the ribbon inside the tunnel. So, then, we start putting the hook through one of the ends of the blouse.

This part of the process isn't rocket science, you just have to be patient and gradually gather the fabric and then slide the hook along.

Once the ribbon came out through the other end of the tunnel, we remove the safety pin and gather the fabric upward while holding both ends of the ribbon. Lastly, we make a pretty little bow to secure it.

And that would be it, this is the pretty result. (Update: at the moment of writing this post, I must inform you that I ended up changing the pink ribbon for a black elastic ribbon since I find it more comfortable to use. So, as a tip, you could use elastic ribbons so you can put on the bolero without having to undo the bow).

I really like the combination of this color and style with the print of the dress; I feel it now gives off prettier vibes, plus there are days when I don't feel so comfortable showing my shoulders or the (annoying) dress code doesn't allow it. Now I can finally enjoy this garment, I feel it has more personality, hehe.

Estaba aburrida, así que quería coser un poco; lo malo es que no sé coser desde cero, solamente transformar ropa, así que rebusqué en mis cosas algo que valiera la pena lo suficiente, pero no tanto como para sentirme mal si la terminaba dañando. ¿Están listos? Acompáñenme en esta tarea donde cualquier cosa puede pasar.

Pero primero, preparemos nuestros materiales.

• Hilo y aguja

• Lapicero

• Tijeras

• Ganchitos para fijar la tela

• Gancho imperdible

Y mucha paciencia y valentía.

Esta es la blusita que estaré transformando. Tiene un corte muy bonito, cuello redondo y las mangas son de uno de mis estilos favoritos. Me encantaba mucho así, pero también la sentía muy básica.

Al entrar a Pinterest, justo encontré una imagen (link de la imagen acá) que me llamó mucho la atención porque el proceso parecía muy sencillo, así que hoy me acompañarán a descubrir si es tan fácil como parece, y mi blusa roja servirá de sacrificio en este experimento. Vamos a convertir esto en un bolero.

El primer paso es poner la prenda al revés. Luego, tomar un lapicero o cualquier cosa para marcar una línea recta vertical, desde el cuello hasta el borde de abajo; yo lo hice con la ayuda de la regla. Para saber cuál es la mitad de la prenda, medí con la regla y lo dividí entre dos.

Una vez hecha la línea, cortamos la prenda. Aquí ya no había vuelta atrás; si esto no me salía bien, habría dañado una prenda, jajaja.

Luego, con la prenda al derecho, nuevamente, vamos a recogerla hacia adentro para hacer el túnel. Yo metí exactamente 2 cm de tela hacia dentro, y como no tengo de esos ganchitos que se usan en costura para inmovilizar la tela, usé ganchillos de cabello.

El túnel tiene que pasar por toda la blusa, incluyendo el cuello. Debo admitir que fue muy complicada la parte de las mangas y el cuello por las costuras que ya había ahí, pero lo importante es hacerlo con calma.

Luego procedí a coser para cerrar ese túnel, haciendo una costura cuyo nombre no sé cuál es, jiji, pero es haciendo solo un puntito en la parte visible de la prenda. Tal como se ve en la foto de la derecha.

Una vez cosidos los bordes, quedaría así. Me disculpo por el color del hilo; no tengo hilo rojo, por eso mismo hice la costura de manera que no se viera el color del hilo por fuera.

Ahora, tomaremos el gancho imperdible y lo enganchamos al extremo de la cinta. Este gancho nos sirve para tener un agarre cuando estemos deslizando la cinta dentro del túnel. Así, entonces, comenzamos a meter el gancho por uno de los extremos de la blusa.

Esta parte del proceso no tiene mucha ciencia, simplemente hay que tener paciencia e ir frunciendo poco a poco la tela y luego ir deslizando el gancho.

Una vez que el lazo salió por el otro extremo del túnel, quitamos el gancho imperdible y fruncimos la tela hacia arriba mientras sujetamos ambos extremos de la cinta. Por último, hacemos un lindo moñito para fijar.

Y ya estaría, este es el lindo resultado. (Actualización: al momento de escribir este post, debo informarles que terminé cambiando la cinta rosada por una cinta negra elástica, ya que me resulta más cómoda de usar. Así que, como consejo, podrían usar cintas elásticas para que así puedan ponerse el bolero sin tener que deshacer el moño).

Me gusta mucho la combinación de este color y estilo con el estampado del vestido; siento que ahora da vibras más lindas, además de que hay días donde no me siento tan cómoda mostrando mis hombros o el código de vestimenta (molesto) no me lo permite. Ahora sí puedo disfrutar esta prenda, siento que tiene más personalidad, jiji.
