We often forget to take time out of our busy schedules. We live in a fast pace world where even a moment of rest means falling behind. In order to keep up or attempt to keep up rather we end up flying throughout our days without taking a break. When should we rest if we can't rest when we're not at work?
Most people take their work home in one way or the other. This implies that even at home they are still at work in their minds. Time spent with family is non existent. Simply being there is not enough. The physical presence is futile without the emotional and mindfulness being present.
What profits a man to gain the world but lose his soul?
On this day of the sun I chose to shut everything down and spent time with my wife. We even cancelled going to church just to squeeze in a few extra hours together. We aren't particularly proud of that but at times that is exactly what is needed.
We didn't do much but we enjoyed every second. We started by washing dishes then moved on to cooking and making salads. The one I enjoyed the most today was the green apple, beet, onion and vinegar salad; I made it :).
After cooking and eating we enjoyed a few movies with unhealthy snacks, a bad habit we're trying to break. In between was blissful playing around, acting silly, love making, laughing and all kinds of goodies.
Today was a very much needed restful and blissful day. We should all have such as much as possible.
