Ive noticed the first thing that usually breaks on my boots are the laces they came with. I replaced my previous boots with paracord and they outlasted those boots. Now those boots have their sole falling off so I had to replace them.
My new Ariat boots had some pretty basic laces, and upgrading them made sense. I measured out and cut the paracord to the same length as the laces they came with.
I take out the old laces and thread in the new paracord. It has some trouble fitting through the small leather loops but I worked through through in the end.
Now these boots have an extra utility if I ever need cord in a pinch. And also upgrading them with some strong cord to replace the basic laces.
