I noticed the leaves of some fresh growth have curled. So I looked up what causes this, and it's due to an Aphid borne virus that infects raspberry plants.
This rolling of the leaves if caused by a virus is a sign that the plant is infected. It causes stunted growth and will kill the plant within a few years if not delt with.
Some say you can trim and throw away the infected stalks. So I went ahead and trimmed them all off near to the base of the ground.
Went through all the curled branches and trimmed them off.. I hope it pulls through, I guess time will tell.
I cut a few dozen stalks, luckily it seems part of the plant has the rolled leaves.. though there is alot of yellowing and overall small berry size this year. Which may be caused by the leaf rolling virus.
I started this large patch of raspberries with one plant, it grew vigorously for years and I devided the stalks every few years and spaced them out. That gave me a large patch of the berries and I built a wire structure to hold the brambles up otherwise they would touch the ground and ants would get the berries.
