The roses are blooming and I decided not to cut them back. I want them to grow fruit. Or so called rosehips. From what I've read I can make a few things with it in the kitchen.
By not cutting the rose stems these fruits will form. Over time they will ripen and then I can make a jam or jelly.
By not cutting the stems and spent roses the plant will put its energy into the fruits and not produce so many new flowers.
Not sure how long it will take for the rosehips to form and become ready to harvest. I'll need to do some more research on that. They just formed recently so I think they will need awhile.
Many other flowers are dropping off so I'll let them form those rosehips as well. Maybe with a few rose bushes I'll have enough to harvest and make something with.
I have enjoyed the flowers for the last few months so now waiting awhile is all good. Need to make sure these fruits have long enough to mature.
A few of the roses are in full bloom. The plants are really coming along and doing well against pests.
It's been real hot recently go figure it is summertime. Well my ghost succulent is getting burned since plantimg it a week ago.
One of the cactus is burned on the afternoon side of the plant. So I think later in the day the plant is getting burned.
Maybe once the cactus are well adjusted they will recover. The summer is on and the cactus and sucullents are feeling it.
