Since we moved into this house 17 years ago, I've been in love with this plant, which is a feature in my rock garden.
The Kalanchoe thyrsiflora (not completely sure if it is thyrsiflora, though), also known as a desert cabbage or paddle plant, is a succulent commonly found in South Africa. It forms a basal rosette of large, rounded, fleshy leaves, which are a sort of grey-green with red margins. It produces a stalk about 1 m tall. The stalk dies back after flowering.
The younger leaves, stalk and flowers are covered with a white powdery "farina".
The tiny flowers are about the size of my pinky nail, and makes for beautiful macro shots.

Goodbye.
