The weather isn't always warm in Finland despite what the recent pictures might depict so, while it is we have to take advantage of it. Some people like to face the sun like stunned meerkats so their face will end up like leather but, I prefer to swim, smothered in sunscreen of course.
Last year I did some swimming lessons for a few months but circumstances meant we had to stop for a while. I might go back later but I did learn that I love the water there. Even bath time is 'usually' awesome. This summer, I have been experimenting a little more and getting a bit deeper in the water. Despite the heat of the air, lake water is never really what you would call, "warm."
This morning we went down to the nearby beach so I could practice a bit more with Mummy and Daddy. I have to say before we go on, Mummy makes the pictures much better to look at than Daddy. There is a reason he is behind the camera.
I have been practicing floating the last few times and I am really good at it (when someone holds me) but, I don't really give any warning when I am going to try. I like to keep the parents on their toes, kind of like fear factor. I am sure of myself but it makes them think that I might be dragged out into the lake and eaten by sharks. Is that where sharks live?
It was great out there this morning because, as you can see, there aren't a lot of people around to get in my swimming lanes. As the day warms up though it will fill up quickly and be filled with noisy people doing noisy things. When it is just us, we can talk and laugh and enjoy each other's company without having to worry about creepers. Although, there was one who kept taking pictures of Mummy but, I think Daddy is allowed to do that.
Who knows how many swimming days are left so, I am going to keep asking to go until my teeth are chattering which I assume will be when the ice starts to claim back the surface of the lake. That might be next week... This is Finland.
