Surely many Venezuelan families, like mine, have a unique mix between the geographical regions of origin, for example in my family we are from Nueva Esparta and Zulia, so we eat black beans with and without sugar, we like fish and also patacón.
But well, beyond the singularities when eating, or the accent when speaking, in my family we have always approached our West with the eastern island of "Margarita", so sometimes in the family we take turns staying in both places.
Thinking back a little, after fulfilling his job in the oil company, my dad dedicated himself to be with his family, and to travel from one state to another from time to time. The family house was built on the "island" but my brothers and I studied in Zulia, and so we also raised the next generation.
Also we and the family, the most beautiful memories were built in the town of our parents, so if you tell me maybe of a street that I miss, that street will always be the one in the town of "Pampatar". The bad thing is that nowadays it is not so easy for us to travel so regularly, so we miss that economic freedom a little bit.
Due to commitments of the company, such as the fulfillment of life faith and others, my father was with us for several months in Zulia, and this March 26th we had to return to Nueva Esparta, my daughter, my mother and I were almost used to him being at home and this little farewell hit us very hard.
As they are currently doing repairs on the roads, for this opportunity, we took him to the airport, and we will also have anecdotes of this trip because the car overheated and we made two stops before reaching our destination.
One of the stops was precisely at the head of the bridge over Lake Maracaibo "Rafael Urdaneta", there we stayed for a while in the middle of the odyssey, but glad to have taken the foresight to have left early because of the closures.
The second stop, due to the car failure, was in the middle of the highway that connects directly to the air terminal, unfortunately the place could be beautiful, but there was some garbage, but we still took care to stay calm and arrive, it was rather moments of laughter.
Finally, once we were at the airport, after his flight check, we spent some time in the afternoon sharing the wait with my dad. A moment of photos, a cup of tea because the car was quite worrying, and well, in the end everything went well.
When we said goodbye we said "together always", because we know that we want to meet again soon, maybe in the West or in our beautiful island "Margarita". For now, for my daughter, finishing school and being connected with grandpa by WhatsApp.
The beautiful thing about families is that we can add anecdotes, overcome problems together and stay united with the hope of well-being for all and that joy that gives us a home.
