Around when the EIP/SPS discussions got serious I decided to really give a hard look at my witness votes to see if the witnesses were in alignment with my views. While I may not have a ton of stake I do have a voice and i take the responsibility to vote seriously..
Most of the top 20 was purged or put on probation. I decided I would see how the eip process went and now after a week I've been able to get a clearer picture of who is talking the talking and walking the walk.
I'm not going to mention names but I'll say a certain consensus witness I've had issues with in the past seems to be honestly moving forward and also actively encouraging #newsteem. Responsible botting is acceptable and an initiative to burn steem and get a potential curation is admirable. I'm still on the fence though as I'm waiting to see how they follow through.. I'm still sheepish 馃榿
Another consensus witness got my vote as they have been very active smoothly flagging abuse and giving fantastic and in depth explanations as to why they're flagging. I also voted for a witness that's on the precipice of consensus as they've been active and joining the dialogue for responsible steeming. It's only phair right?
I would also like to make an appeal for a witness that was instrumental in concocting the EIP and was very much behind the scenes with another prominent steemian to advocate for our new economics model. If you have any concerns as to their motives or intentions I advise you to do some research and decide for yourselves if they have yours and the steem communities best interests at heart. I assure you the eip isn't a trick to funnel money to some conspirators that are secretly plotting to destroy steem and get rich in the process. But, that's my opinion. Maybe I'm wong?!?
Otherwise in general witness news please check to see if you are currently voting for stale or disabled witnesses. I have included a screenshot from steempeak that includes 3 of these high ranking witnesses..
As always don't panic and steem on! It's not perfect and it never will be, but we're all working to make it better
