We found a tiny zen garden for this #wednesdaywalk by 
I've heard of the Fabyan garden here for a while but we finally got a chance to visit it.
The garden itself is only an acre large but surrounding it are fun forest preserves and some fun walkways. My daughter really liked this hanging garden tunnel.
The little Japanese houses were fun to explore. All the families had the same idea to come here and my daughter got to swarm with a bunch of kids.
But most interesting of all is this broom. The broom is needed in this area to sweep the bat guano off the bench you sit on lol. Apparently they like hanging upside down in this structure at night.
I've been reading about wild orchids in Illinois and thought this might be one, but it turns out to be a wild pea of some kind.
The zen garden's pond was a bit stagnant and the waterfall wasn't functioning. So that put a bit of a damper on the atmosphere but this frog loved the stagnant water.
As did the turtle.
The whole garden is surrounded by a lava rock wall that has little succulents growing in it. If only it was warm enough for lizards here this would be prime real estate.
We'll have to visit here again soon as across the river the park area continues and there are also some historic houses to explore that have a bunch of Asian artifacts in them.
